Norovirus Hits Samarkand

Administrators at the Samarkand Retirement Community confirmed that 65 residents and four employees have been stricken with norovirus, a gastrointestinal affliction that induces vomiting, diarrhea, low-grade fevers, nausea, and generalized fatigue. Residents who’ve become ill are staying in their quarters, all events and activities have been cancelled, and employees — now wearing gowns, masks, and gloves — are taking special precautions to wipe down surface areas with antibacterial soaps and gels. Samarkand has about 400 residents living in multiple buildings and the flu outbreak has not been restricted to any specific areas. Administrators expect the norovirus to run its course in 72 hours.
