Two Suspects Caught, One At-Large in Carp Stabbing
Victim In Car with Three Men When Attacked
Two men were arrested in connection with a stabbing that occurred around midnight Thursday, while one suspect remains on the loose.
Sheriff’s detectives say Daniel Esquivel, 23, and Bryan Duran, 19, are in Santa Barbara County Jail on $1 million bail for stabbing a man while driving in Carpinteria.
According to authorities, the 31-year-old victim was a passenger in a vehicle with one of the suspects when they traveled to another residence. The suspect got out of the vehicle, went inside, and came out with the other two suspects, and the four drove away together. A short time later, the victim told detectives, the men “attacked him by punching and stabbing him multiple times,” said Drew Sugars, spokesperson for the Sheriff’s Department. He was able to jump out of the vehicle, run away, and call authorities.
Deputies responded to the 4500 block of Aragon Drive to find the victim, who was treated and released at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.
One of the suspects, Manuel Lopez, 31, is still on the loose. Lopez has a large “C” tattooed on his right cheek and a tattoo around his neck. Authorities urge anyone to call (805) 684-5405 or (805) 681-4171 if they have info on this case.
