• Goleta Valley Beautiful needs volunteers to plant acorns for the next generation of oak trees at the organization’s greenhouse (UCSB’s Devereux Campus) on Saturday, December 27, and Saturday, January 3, from 9 a.m.-noon. Call 685-7910 for more info or to RSVP for the project.

• The American Support for Afghanistan organization (3905 State St.) is looking for an experienced accountant or certified public accountant to help with their nonprofit tax preparation and other general accounting tasks. • The S.B. Public Library (40 E. Anapamu St.) is always looking for volunteers to come in once or twice a week to help with its Adult Literacy program, which helps local adults improve their writing, reading, and other basic skills.
