A Dark Picture
Technology is taking over our lives, and the results are not always good. The Federal Energy Acts of 2005 and 2007 gave the green light for the implementation of Smart Grid Technology. Outside utility company propaganda, the reality is a dark picture.
The first step was the roll out of Smart Meters, which escalated after the stimulus provided billions of dollars in 2009. Ever since, Smart Meters have been forced on the public with dire results. People are getting sick, there have been fires, the cost of electricity has gone up, and security is a problem.
The next step will be setting up home-area networks (HANs) inside our homes, where meters will communicate with appliances and relay energy usage to the utility companies. Computer chips called “Friendly Appliance Controllers” will be put on appliances, thermostats, heaters, and air conditioners to control, stop, or delay our usage.
The final blow to individual freedom and U.S. sovereignty will be the development of a smart grid on national, continental, and global levels.
Are we replaying, “It’s too big to fail?” What country would gamble with its energy, and who will be in charge of the world grid and benefit from it?
In a frenzy with irrational deadlines, governments have thrown stimulus money into “smart technology.” Investors and companies have rushed to
develop experimental products that are not tested before use. As a result, get-rich-quick profits have been put ahead of security, safety, and health. The consumer is the victim.
What can we do to stop this insanity? Join the Consumers Power Alliance Freedom of Choice Movement and write a letter telling the Public Utility Commission (CPUC) you want a no-cost opt-out. Do it now.
