Three Injured In Post-Super Bowl Attack
Police Say It's Gang Related, But No Arrests Yet
Santa Barbara Police have little to go on in a hunt for several suspects responsible for what they have described as a gang-related attack.
Officers say a group of three pedestrians coming home from a Super Bowl party were jumped around 7:30 p.m. Sunday on the 1300 block of East Gutierrez. The attackers carried no weapons, but inflicted minor injuries on a male and female couple, both 17-years old, and a 48-year-old male.
According to Sgt. Lorenzo Duarte, the victims have been uncooperative. They declined to prosecute their assailants, with one victim even refusing medical attention. All injuries were mild to moderate and were treated at the scene.
Authorities believe the couple, as well as their attackers, to be gang members.
