Fewer Californians received health insurance through their employer last year, according to a new Economic Policy Institute study. The finding marks the seventh year in a row that employer-sponsored health insurance has declined in California and nationwide. Last year, 56.3 percent of California workers under 65 received job-based health coverage. That’s 3.3 percent fewer than in 2000. Nationwide, 62.9 percent of Americans received health coverage through their employers in 2007, or 3 million fewer workers than in 2000.
