DUI Arrest and Checkpoint Results

The checkpoint was held between 7:00 p.m. and 3:00 a.m. at Storke Road and Phelps Road in the City of Goleta. This operation was one of many that have or will be conducted throughout the year in the City of Goleta.

Here are the results of the checkpoint:

Vehicles Screened: 620

DUI Arrests: 1

Driving without a Valid Driver’s License: 4

Driving on a Suspended Driver’s License 2

Vehicles Impounded for 30 days: 2

Vehicles Impounded for 1 day: 2

Criminal Citations: 2

Driver’s Evaluated for DUI (Alcohol / Drugs) 20 (were determined not to be impaired)

• Jose Mendoza (01-16-90) of Goleta was arrested for DUI and had a blood alcohol content of .21%, which is almost three times over the legal limit of .08 % BAC.

The checkpoint was funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The City of Goleta contracts with the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office for police services.
