UCSB was the most well-rounded campus in the competition’s three categories for the November election: the largest number of students registered to vote, the largest percentage of a student body registered to vote, and the best “Civic and Voter Empowerment Action Plan.
Residents voted emphatically for Mayor Paula Perotte, Councilmember Stuart Kasdin, council newcomer Jennifer Smith, and Measure G, which protects large agricultural parcels from development.
Harsher punishments for theft and drug-related crimes go into effect December 18.
