The next time, Barry Maher should demand sizeable compensation for his remarks — as the news media expects to be paid for what they do. Maybe that’ll quiet them down and/or avoid any kerfuffles.
I also think he missed the mark in saying a war was fought to oust the Royals, as they tried again in 1812!
The law of the land gives the press a certain amount of freedom — did it fail in not mentioning that that action/power tends to corrupt?
