ADORABLE ADORNMENTS
You’ve seen me turn to this blog more than a few times for behind-the-scenes remodeling stories and other dream-worthy tales of inspiration. For the new year, Emily Henderson and team are looking at style trends they’re seeing for 2022 and beyond. While they point out distinct elements, the underlying theme throughout is sustainability. For some, that might mean splurging on a designer-quality furniture piece that will last for generations, while for others — like me — it means shopping for vintage finds or fixing up what we already have to give it new life. Either way, buying trendy pieces that end up in the landfill within a year is “out.” Thrift store, here I come!
HOUSE OF A DIFFERENT COLOR
Continuing this trend of unbridled maximalism, the Dirt blog shines the spotlight on a recent local sale in Montecito, and this one’s not your typical red-tile-roofed mansion. They call it a “colorfully quirky Montecito house.” I call it an antidote to the white-on-white minimalist decor that we’ve seen so much of lately. This Sycamore Canyon home — complete with a bright-red bridge in the gardens out front, an infinity-edge pool in the back overlooking a meadow, and the gorgeous mountain views that we locals all know and love. The home was sold by Nancy Kogevinas of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices.

MOUNTAIN VIEW STUNNER
Lest you believe the hype that there are no new listings on the local market, here are not just one but two awesome properties for sale that were just listed this week. This stylish five-bedroom, three-and-a-half-bathroom home in the desirable Mountain View Elementary School area is listed by Cara Gamberdella and Erin Timmerman of Village Properties. Besides the captivating kitchen shown above, it’s got upgrades throughout, and great curb appeal. It’s open from 2-4 p.m. today at 1045 Tisha Court. Stop by and take a look!
BEST OF BOTH WORLDS
You don’t have to choose between the beach and the mountains when you live here on the American Riviera, and this three-bedroom, two-bath condominium offers the best of both. Located near the beach, between the Mesa and downtown, and boasting stunning mountain views from its oversized balcony, this gem has it all. What it does not have are any shared walls. Located at 321 Ladera Street #1, it’s open for your viewing pleasure from 1-3 p.m. today. Listed by Rachel Brown of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices at $895,000, I don’t have to tell you that this one will not last long!
