Pot Addition

In your cannabis regulation story, Supervisor Janet Wolf says, “Some people have said you’re (Wolf) against marijuana. I am just being sensible. It’s sensible planning.”

In the next paragraph, she says, “Does it (pot) add something to our community? I have a hard time understanding that it does.”

Yep, no bias there.

Is this going to be the criteria for “allowing” a person to start a business in Santa Barbara, having to prove to a controlling individual that you are adding “something to the community”?

Do liquor stores add “something to the community”?

If not, why not create regulations that will make it nearly impossible to do business?

I can understand regulations such as not putting a liquor or marijuana store next to a school, etc., but adding “something to the community”?

I doubt that’s what they had in mind when they put “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness” in the Declaration of Independence, and that’s why they left out “as long as it adds something to the community.”
