One-Acre Blaze Threatened No Structures

[Update, 7:03 p.m.]: A grass fire, which at its height burned one acre of the hillside behind Goleta’s Glen Annie Golf Club, was completely extinguished by 6:45 p.m. Tuesday evening. “Forward progress was stopped 30 minutes after the initial dispatch,” said Santa Barbara County firefighter Sky Bonillo. Fire investigators, who arrived on scene just after 6:30 p.m., are determining the cause of the blaze.

A half-acre grass fire was reported around 5:30 p.m. behind Glen Annie Golf Club in Goleta. Santa Barbara County firefighter Sky Bonillo said no buildings or homes were threatened and that County Fire had sent a full response, including air support, to the area. Two Los Padres Fire engines are also battling the blaze, which is “burning at a moderate rate of speed,” he said.
