The race for 3rd District Supervisor on June 7 may well be the most important election for the Santa Ynez Valley in a decade. There are five candidates from all walks of life competing for that seat, but there is only one standout candidate that has the experience to represent the Valley on the incredibly wide range of issues we face, and that candidate is Joan Hartmann.
When I met Joan, I found her to be a pleasant, smart, dedicated community advocate. Since then, I learned that she is much more than that. First and foremost, she is, like our current Supervisor Doreen Farr, a good listener. Secondly, in her capacity as planning commissioner for the 3rd District, she proved that in addition to listening to the facts, she also analyzed them from all angles before making a decision.
We are fortunate that Joan is one of our very own and, therefore, knows the Valley very well; however, I am confident that she will serve all of the 3rd District with distinction, bringing all of her knowledge into play in solving problems in this most diverse supervisorial district.
It is for these reasons that I will be voting in favor of Joan Hartmann on June 7. I hope you will join me.
