Highway 101 shut down for about 10 minutes at Casitas Pass Road in Carpinteria around 8:50 p.m. Tuesday night after a 19-year-old Oxnard resident called 9-1-1 threatening to jump from the overpass. A Sheriff’s deputy arrived on scene and talked him down, said Sheriff’s spokesperson Kelly Hoover. Traffic was diverted away from the highway until the man came down from the overpass. He was taken to the hospital for a mental evaluation.
