Pedestrian Dies in Buellton Collision
A 41-year-old male pedestrian died Monday night after suffering major injuries in a collision at the intersection of Lata Drive and Highway 246 in Buellton.
Two Santa Barbara County fire engines, one Battalion Chief, AMR paramedics, Sheriff’s officers, and Buellton CHP officers responded at approximately 6:55 p.m. to a report of a vehicle vs. pedestrian collision, said Fire Captain David Zaniboni. First responders found the man “in the street with major injuries,” Zaniboni said. The man was pronounced dead upon arrival, and the Sheriff Coroner arrived on scene.
Although no vehicle was “immediately at the scene,” Zaniboni said the CHP “had a vehicle stopped just West of the incident on Highway 246.” The CHP believed this vehicle was involved in the accident. The Buellton Police Department and the County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the incident.
