Cassidy and Gabriella Gibbs, the 4- and 6-year-old girls who went missing six months ago after Santa Maria Superior Court granted visitation rights to their father, were recovered safely last week with their mother, 44-year-old Michelle Christine Gibbs, in Los Cabos, Baja California Sur.
Last Tuesday, Michelle Gibbs surrendered herself and her daughters at the U.S. Consular Agency in San Jose del Cabo (Los Cabos), Baja California Sur, Mexico. Mexican immigration officials escorted the three, who appeared to be in good health, back to the U.S. The Gibbs children were reunited with their father earlier this week.
Their mother was arrested by the U.S. Marshall on charges of felony child abduction. She posted bail at $100,000 and is slated for arraignment on September 15, 2015 in Santa Maria Superior Court.
In a press release, Santa Barbara County District Attorney Joyce E. Dudley commented, “Through the process of working these cases, which are fraught with frustrating delays and legal complications, the well-being of the children remains our highest priority.”
