EPA Yellow

A new color of water made itself known in Colorado; it is “EPA yellow.” It is nice that the federal agency called the Environmental Protection Agency, or EPA, apologized for contaminating the Animas River with over 2.7 million gallons of heavy metal sludge which will be there for generations. But, since it is a government agency, it is immune from prosecution.

One wonders about the silence from our environmental groups and vocal Democratic politicians who normally jump to be heard when there is an oil spill or train derailment. Where are the hearings and investigations? Pollution should be a nonpartisan issue; at least it used to be. No wonder people are suspicious of the enviro/government complex that picks and chooses targets of convenience. Let’s hope a semblance of good judgment will prevail among those affected by this eco-disaster and the federal perpetrators.
