[Original Story] A 53-year-old male motorcyclist of Newhall, CA who was riding his Harley Davidson 55 miles per hour in the second lane on southbound US-101, south of Evans Avenue in Summerland, sustained fatal injuries in a crash that appears to be a freak accident, according to a press release. On Sunday, August 9 in the early afternoon, witnesses said the rider began to drift toward the freeway’s first lane before passing out and slumping over his bike. The motorcycle traveled through the first lane and hit the metal guardrail in the center meridian area. He was ejected from his motorcycle and landed between the northbound and southbound freeway guardrails. It has not been determined whether medical conditions caused the rider to lose consciousness. Alcohol and drugs are not suspected to have caused the collision.
