Grace Fisher Delivers Graduation Speech
The Paralyzed SBHS Senior Says Life 'Is About Transforming the Possibilities'
Santa Barbara High School graduating senior Grace Fisher, who suffered mysterious sudden paralysis in December and was eventually diagnosed with acute flaccid myelitis, has posted her graduation speech on YouTube.
In the two-minute edit, the 17-year-old Santa Barbara native gives thanks for the outpouring of support she’s received and offers insight to her fellow graduates. Life “is about transforming the possibilities,” says Fisher, who’s being treated at Craig Hospital, near Denver, Colorado.
A fund set up for Fisher’s mounting medical bills will receive a portion of the proceeds of this year’s Sweatfest, scheduled for June 27 in Elings Park.
