With the help of a grant from the Fletcher Jones Foundation, Westmont College hopes to begin a floor-to-ceiling renovation of its biology and chemistry labs that will complete its first phase by summer 2015. The school’s Whittier Science Building has remained relatively unchanged since 1985, when it was first built, and the $750,000 grant enables the college to upgrade classroom and lab spaces to standards that can accommodate modern research projects.
“This grant will help the college maintain its commitment to creating the best possible science programs with equally outstanding facilities and equipment,” said Eileen McMahon McQuade, associate professor and chair of the biology department, in a Westmont press announcement.
