Looking for a Few Good Volunteers and One Deputy City Manager

The City of Goleta has announced the search is on for a new deputy city manager to serve its 30,000 residents. The city’s requirements include a bachelor’s degree, though a master’s is preferred, and experience in executive management and supervision, as well as in-depth knowledge of human resources, risk management, community development, and capital improvement. The salary may range from $141,616-$172,135, though $196,758 is under consideration, in addition to a competitive benefits package, according to the city’s press release. The application period closes January 4.

And, though less well compensated monetarily, but not meritoriously, Parks and Recreation commissioners and Design Review Board members are also wanted by the City of Goleta. If the parks and recreational opportunities in Goleta matter to you, the city needs four new commissioners for the four-year post, which advises the City Council on park needs, opportunities, and issues. Members must live in the city; they receive $50 per meeting.

A licensed architect and an at-large city resident are being sought for the Design Review Board, which works to enhance the visual qualities of Goleta’s built environment. Applicants should be skilled at interpreting architectural and landscape drawings, as well as judging desirability and effect on surrounding areas. The Design Review Board meets twice a month, and members receive $50 per meeting.

Applications can be had online and from Deborah Lopez, City Clerk, 130 Cremona Drive, Suite B, 93117, (805) 961-7505.
