Antioch University Santa Barbara received a big boon this week when it learned that it would be the recipient of a $1.6 million federal grant in order to boost the educational experience for minority and low-income students. The Department of Education Title III Grant is only available to “Hispanic-serving institutions.” It will provide $1.6 million out of $2.2 million to be spent over five years on Antioch’s College-to-Career initiative. The goal of the program is to provide additional support to students who are at risk of not finishing their degree and implement a work co-op program so that students can acquire concrete job skills prior to graduation.
