The Sea Sprites, an all-woman relay swim team, postponed the 19-mile crossing of the Santa Barbara Channel planned for midnight, September 19, due to rough weather. Swimmer Monica Jones noted in an email that the seas were so bad that even the oil platform supply boats were not venturing out. Jones said updates on the rescheduled “Little Old Ladies Swim” — which raises funds for children’s swim lessons — would be available on her Facebook page.
