UC Teaching Assistants and Tutors Getting Raises

Thu Jun 12, 2014 | 12:00am

For the first time in almost four years, University of California teaching assistants and tutors are getting a raise. The pay hike is a 16 percent increase spread over the next four years, a hike that the union, UAW 2865, and UC management have been negotiating for more than a year. “While this doesn’t eliminate the gap between UC and its competitor institutions, it does represent a significant wage increase for UC grad student workers,” said Henry Maar, UCSB history PhD candidate and UWA spokesperson. The contract will be ratified this week.
