Guadalupe, CA – The Guadalupe-Nipomo Dunes Center and The Guadalupe Cultural Arts & Education Center are pleased to present the Re-THINK Trash Art Exhibit on Saturday – July 20th, 2013 from 1:00pm – 3:00pm. The Re-THINK Art Exhibit will have on display art made from recycled materials found in the Guadalupe-Nipomo dunes and local beach areas. An average of 14 billion pounds of garbage, mostly plastic, is poured into the ocean each year. The Dunes Center hopes to inspire visitors of the exhibit to think of trash in new and different ways and spread awareness of the harm trash is doing to our local beaches.
Starting at 1:00pm that Saturday the Dunes Center and the Guadalupe Cultural Arts and Education Center will be open for visitors to come see local artist’s trash art. These pieces have been put together through the creativity, imagination, and inspiration of local artists who have found trash and recycled it into something beautiful. Most of the pieces, such as paintings and sculptures, will also be available for purchase. Each piece will have a short description of where the pieces were found, what inspired the artist to create the piece and how it was put together. The Dunes Center will also provide drinks and snacks for viewers and a craft table for children to make their own trash art.
The event is free and open to the public. Donations, which help fund the Dunes Center, are greatly appreciated. The Dunes Center encourages those living out of the area to come see the beautiful art on display and to check out the surrounding area of Guadalupe.
