MEGAN SQUARED: For Thousand Oaks native and UCSB global studies major Megan Meyer, graduating last December two quarters before her classmates has definite upsides — like getting a job as calendar assistant one month ago with The Santa Barbara Independent, for instance — but it’s also left her straddling the fence between gown and town, spending her nights as a resident of Isla Vista (and bartender at the Study Hall) but working her days downtown. “I feel like two separate Megans: the Isla Vista one and the one that goes elsewhere,” explained Meyer, who enjoys the outdoors with her two dogs, Jackson the golden retriever and Baxter the Labradoodle, previously worked at Santa Barbara Magazine and also contributes to rapmixoff.com. “I like a little bit of both, but I’m starting to get ready for a Santa Barbara lifestyle that isn’t the college lifestyle, because it gets old after a while.” See her work at independent.com/events.
