Chihuahuas and Chihuahua mixes constitute nearly 40% of the dogs living in area shelters.
The “Whole Enchihuahua” promotion, sponsored by the members of the Santa Barbara County Responsible Pet Ownership Alliance, draws public attention to this issue and to the availability of great companion dogs by offering half off the Whole Enchihuahua: an already spayed or neutered, vaccinated, loving family companion. Interested adopters will find that, when it comes to this small but mighty breed, “One size fits all”
To further highlight the delight that these “big dogs in small packages” can bring, the Alliance is sponsoring its first ever Chihuahua! Power Parade and Rally. Chihuahua and Chi mix owners are invited to grab their dogs and leashes and join other Chihuahua lovers at Center Court in the Paseo Nuevo Shopping Center, Santa Barbara, on Saturday, April 27th at 3PM. Mayor Helene Schneider will be leading the walk down State Street to help bring attention to the hundreds of Chihuahuas waiting for homes in local shelters. All licensed, vaccinated, and leashed Chihuahuas and Chihuahua mixes are welcome to participate with their owners.
In addition, Santa Barbara County owners of Chihuahuas and Chihuahua mixes will be able to get their dogs spayed and neutered for free during the month of May. Free surgeries will be provided for the first 300 dogs signed up. Call one of the following to schedule an appointment:
