The 2013 Earth Day festival attracted 35,894 visitors last weekend. Of those visitors, over 2,000 arrived via bicycle, estimated the Community Environmental Council, which organized the event. On Sunday, activist Van Jones and entertainer Bill Nye (the Science Guy) received Environmental Hero Awards. “The key to the future is to not just do less,” said Nye. “The key is to do more with less: to go further on a gallon or a liter of gas, to get trains to run on time with less electricity, to make aircraft more efficient, to make farming more efficient, and to have less runoff run into our rivers and streams.”
