In an unexpected coda to the longstanding dispute between the Unity Shoppe and the two other nonprofits with which it had co-owned the Victoria Theater at Chapala and Victoria streets, the Luria Family Trust has stepped in and acquired the building on behalf of Ensemble Theatre Company, the recently arrived long-term tenant that is currently renovating the structure. Derek Westen, cochair of the capital campaign responsible for funding the renovation project, said, “Lee Luria’s incredible generosity in purchasing the theatre will transform our Ensemble at the New Vic capital campaign, and guarantee the long-term prosperity of Ensemble.”
