The tri-counties have made their support for Hurricane Sandy victims well-known, as Santa Barbara-based Direct Relief International reports it has contributed more than $1 million in cash aid and $25 million worth of medical supplies, in addition to other direct donations from citizens. While it does not have a figure for regional financial donations yet, the American Red Cross of Santa Barbara County dispatched 30 volunteers and staff and two relief vehicles to the East Coast to assist in maintaining the many shelters still housing refugees from the storm.
