The Santa Barbara Airport’s new terminal will be named after former mayor and judge John T. Rickard, the City Council decreed Tuesday with a 5-2 vote. Councilmembers Dale Francisco and Frank Hotchkiss cast the dissenting votes. The terminal was completed last summer and the choosing of its name had been a public and contentious process with a number of submissions made by community members. Rickard served as city attorney and mayor in the 1950s and as judge for 14 years beginning in the 1960s.
