Funeral services for Alexandra Tang, the 24-year-old UCSB alumnus murdered earlier this month, will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday at Saint Raphael Catholic Church in Goleta.
Tang was the daughter of longtime Santa Barbara dentist Alexander Tang, one of several children in the large local family. On September 1, Tang was stabbed to death in a Laguna Hills residence owned by the mother of her boyfriend, Derek Pinski. One day later, Pinski was arrested in Mesa, Arizona, where his father lives. He was extradited to Orange County and is charged with murder.
Friday’s service is open to family, friends, and members of the community who wish to honor Tang’s life. Rather than bringing flowers or other gifts, the family asks that mourners donate to Domestic Violence Solutions, a Santa Barbara-based nonprofit organization that works with victims of domestic violence.
Before her death, Tang worked with Autistic children in South Orange County. She graduated from UCSB in 2011. The Tang family said in a press release that “Sandra,” as she was known, was a “spirited girl” much loved by the entire family.
“She was full of life and love,” the Tangs said. “She had an exciting future ahead of her and no words can full express how much she’ll be missed by all.”
