Being as I am in rural Palawan, I just learned about the find at the Veterans Memorial Building.
The current use of the Veterans Memorial Building is compatible with a Chumash burial site. Vet Center readjustment counselors counsel troubled warriors in the many rooms. The Disabled American Veterans Commander and Service Officer, Ellery Price, provides excellent benefits counseling to the warriors and more than a dozen recovery meetings are attended by veterans and non-veterans, helping the warriors to reintegrate into society without alcohol or drugs. Many of these functions would be jeapardized or terminated by the museum construction and design.
Thank God for the artifacts, and the warriors who left them to preserve this building! And yes, we need recovery, readjustment , and rehabilitation for veterans, not a war museum.
