Former News-Press editor Jerry Roberts observed the sixth anniversary of Santa Barbara’s only daily newspaper’s now mythic meltdown by serving liens and levies on the Santa Barbara News-Press building in De la Guerra Plaza, its printing press in Goleta, and on owner Wendy McCaw’s bank account to enforce payment of the nearly $1 million in attorney’s fees he was awarded in compensation for his protracted legal showdown with McCaw. Should the payment dispute remain unresolved, Roberts would be entitled to seek a mandated sale of McCaw’s property to secure compensation.
