The schools and the city are teaming up to offer free snacks and lunches for children throughout the summer. The school district’s Food Services will deliver federally funded scratch-cooked meals via mobile cafes at city parks in lower-income neighborhoods. Adults older than 18 can also purchase meals at $3.50. The program began on Tuesday at the Westside Community Center with guest celebrity diner Mayor Helene Schneider, and it will run through 8/17 there, as well as at six other sites.
