After more than seven years of serving wines on Salsipuedes Street in Santa Barbara, Carr Winery will be opening the doors to a new tasting room called The Warehouse, in the same Santa Ynez building where they store their wines. They’ll celebrate that opening on April 20, so I recently asked co-owner Jessica Carr some questions about the winery itself and its new warehouse opening.
What sets Carr winery apart?
Our team! We have a great group of employees that work with us to make delicious wines and create an enjoyable atmosphere to drink them in.
What is different about your new location in Santa Ynez?
The Warehouse is a 3,800-square-foot wine storage facility in the heart of Santa Ynez where all the Carr wines are waxed, labeled, and bottle-aged. Guests are surrounded by aging wines, ambient lighting, a large u-shaped bar made from recycled oak barrels, and comfy booths.
What can we expect to see at the opening event on April 20?
The opening of The Warehouse in Santa Ynez will feature wine tasting, wines by the glass, live music by the Gawd Damn Band, and the famous Cold Spring Tavern tri-tip sandwiches. The event will be from 5 to 9 p.m., and admission is free!
Do you have any future plans in addition to opening the new tasting room?
Yes, we always have new ideas and plans at Carr Winery … we just can’t tell you about them yet.
And lastly, what’s your favorite wine that you produce?
Cabernet Franc.
