The Pacifica Graduate Institute is sponsoring “A Toast Heard ‘Round the World” on New Year’s Eve to inaugurate the school’s new Alumni Association and is asking alumni all over the world to raise a glass on New Year’s Eve and at 12 midnight “tweet” their dreams to #ToastPacifica.”
Pacifica’s Office of Alumni Affairs has invited members of the school’s global community—alumni, students, faculty members, and staff and their families, as well as other friends of the institution—to join in the celebration. The Alumni Association and groups of alumni across the U.S. and abroad have planned special gatherings for the evening of December 31st designed to bring the spirit of Pacifica alive and raise the Alumni Association’s visibility.
“Offering ‘a toast’ to Pacifica and the Alumni Association in their city or town will build stronger bonds among alums and other members of the Pacifica family,” said Dr. Lupe Zuniga, co-chair of the Alumni Association Executive Committee. “We hope they all will embrace our efforts in 2012 to further develop our alumni network and help us fully honor our school, our community, and our Alumni Association.”
Pacifica, which dates its beginnings as an educational institution to 1976, has more than 3,000 degree-holding graduates. However, until this year it had not had a fully operating alumni association. The association, which launched several months ago, is in the process of organizing regional branches around the United States and in several foreign countries.
Dianne Travis-Teague, the Administrator of the school’s Alumni Affairs Office, urged graduates to “resolve to be a Pacifica Ambassador in the coming year—to share the Pacifica story, even to invite a potential student to a Pacifica Information Day.” Such sessions are held periodically throughout the year on both Pacifica’s Lambert and Ladera campuses. “Most importantly,” Travis-Teague said, “we want graduates to support our Alumni Association in 2012. They can begin by raising a glass with us on New Year’s Eve and ‘tweeting’ their dreams to #ToastPacifica.”
