Goleta Gets Grant for New Park

The City of Goleta received good news in the form of a $10,000 grant from the Davenport Institute for Public Engagement and Civic Leadership. Goleta recently purchased an empty lot from Doug Connor, owner and president of Santa Barbara Nissan on South Kellogg Avenue, in order to realize a longtime dream of developing more outdoor space for young area residents. The lot, just half a block off Hollister Avenue on Kellogg Avenue, will eventually be turned into a park. The Davenport Institute will offer consulting services and customized training for city staff, and the city is currently considering submitted design proposals. A contract will likely be awarded in December.
