It appears that a disagreement between the Santa Barbara Unified School District and its classified employees — one that resulted in roughly 200 employees not receiving a pay check they thought was coming their way at the end of September — is on the way to being resolved. District officials and a negotiating team from the area chapter of the California School Employees Association (CSEA) met last Friday to hash out differences about the payment schedules for 9- and 10-month employees, and by all accounts, an amicable compromise has been reached, though CSEA members still must vote on it. According to an update on the CSEA Web site, the district, in order to make up for last month’s misunderstanding, is issuing “off-schedule” checks to affected employees this week.
