The final stop on the Seedless Summer Tour brought Shwayze and Cisco, Rebelution, and Slightly Stoopid to the Santa Barbara Bowl on Saturday for a night of SoCal pride and solid music. Shwayze and Cisco were up first and filled their set with tracks from the recently released Island in the Sun. A small but extremely energetic crowd flocked toward the stage as they played their popular alt hip-hop tunes, like “You Could Be My Girl,” “Butterflies,” and “Drunk off Your Love.” The duos upbeat, rock-tinged beats set the tone for the evening as the Bowl filled to near capacity with Rebelution and Slightly Stoopid fans.
The audience was fired up by the time Santa Barbara boys Rebelution took to the stage. They played favorites like “Green Turns to Black,” “Lazy Afternoon,” and “Bright Side of Life.” They also dished up a self-titled song from their upcoming album, the aptly titled Sky’s the Limit. Their Isla Vista-born Cali-reggae style was well received and led smoothly into the night’s headlining act.
Slightly Stoopid combines reggae, punk, and psychedelic rock for a unique and party-ready musical experience. Saturday’s set list included plenty of hits (“Somebody,” “The Fireman,” “Baby I Like It”), but it was saxophonist DeLa and trumpeter C-Money who rocked the hardest, giving the band that rich, full sound that their shows have become known for. Still, the brightest highlights of the night came by way of vocalists Miles Doughty and Kyle McDonald, who brought Rebelution onstage for a handful of collaborative jams.
