Tue Sep 13, 2011 | 03:40pm

U.K. producer TODDLA T comes to the Dim Mak studio at Cinespace to promote the U.S. release of his his second artist album WATCH ME DANCE September 13 on the legendary Ninja Tune label. With WATCH ME DANCE, TODDLA T has created a dubwise, street-soul masterpiece, a bold step forward. His debut album Skanky Skanky was released in January 2009, followed by a Fabric live mix album and a lot of requests for his production skills with everyone from Major Lazer to Grandmaster Flash getting in touch. He already has a slew of remixes under his belt (Hot Chip, Gyptian, Gorillaz, Major Lazer) and recently launched his own Girls Music Label which, after only a handful of releases, has already featured productions by British dance music heroes Sticky, Seiji and Roska. In ensuring WATCH ME DANCE was everything TODDLA T envisaged it could be—for it he carefully selected an impressive lineup of friends, peers and musical icons to guest vocal, co-produce, remix and co-write with him on the album. Names including previous collaborator Roots Manuva, fellow DJ, producer and remixer Skream, Ms Dynamite, Ross Orton, Wayne Marshall, Donaeo, Roisin Murphy and Shola Ama, who appears on “Take It Back,” the album’s first single (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=unpcCIisLQ8). The second single impacting now is “Watch Me Dance,” the title track with Roots Manuva (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9rw9yeS6nqA&feature=fvsr).

To preview his upcoming full-length debut album ENTER THE NIGHT out TBD via Ultra Music, New York-based producer/DJ DROP THE LIME has announced a North American tour returning to Control at Avalon with his band. Fifties rock ‘n’ roll and bass-heavy club music aren’t two genres you’d typically put together, but in the mind of DROP THE LIME, they’re a perfect combination. DROP THE LIME’s live show pushes the boundaries of electronic dance music by combining his two passions: classic rockabilly and rock ‘n’ roll and bass-pumping dance music. Joined onstage by vintage-costumed backup singers/dancers and a live drummer, DROP THE LIME fronts the full band as he sings live vocals with guitar strapped in hand. He masterfully switches to the DJ decks to create a new sound that blends vintage rock with electronic music, all the while holding down his signature New York bass style on tracks like “Shake Baby Shake,” “Let’s Go” and “Hot As Hell.” Watch a behind-the-scenes video of DROP THE LIME’s debut live show at New York’s Music Hall of Williamsburg here: http://www.vimeo.com/24773610. DROP THE LIME’s current single “Hot As Hell” is available now via Ultra Music and was first released in the U.K. earlier this year to critical acclaim with Mixmag hailing the music as “…a hellraising, rockabilly road trip…” Coinciding with the tour, Ultra Music will release “Shake Baby Shake,” a new club single from DROP THE LIME on September 27.

As a mainstay of the French Touch (he started his career in the 1990’s together with Daft Punk, Air, Cassius and Bob Sinclar), France’s DJ CAM is a not to be missed highlight of the annual Ooh La La Festival. His DJ set will highlight material from his upcoming album SEVEN due out on October 17 via Inflamible Records. Written in Paris and Los Angeles (where Cam now calls home), SEVEN is an album who’s enveloping, melancholic tone and wide-open soundscapes are designed to help make minds wander: “Swim” feat Chris James, frontman for British electronic alternative rock band Stateless, is the first single. (With the album version and a radio edit, the EP of “Swim”—now available via all digital outlets—also features remixes by Parisian alternative act Blackjoy, U.K. newcomer Cuttooth and multimedia artist Conforce. Its stunning melancholic music video was directed by highly acclaimed French fashion photographer Sonia Sieff.) Jason Bentley of KCRW calls “Swim” “… pure bliss…A summer anthem.” Chris James is also present on tracks “Ghost” and “Uncomfortable” and there are hints of old school electronica (“Dreamcatcher”) as well as cinematic ambient tracks that invite you to dream (“Seven,” “California Dreaming”). For a feminine touch, DJ Cam adds the vocals of Inlove, a new signing on his Inflamable label, and Nicolette, long-time collaborator with Massive Attack, the legendary group that DJ Cam feels closer to now than ever before and to whom he dedicates the album. DJ Cam has released six albums, helmed a number of side projects and given countless performances all around the world, helping him to acquire global notoriety. His 2002 single “Summer in Paris” with Anggun sold over 1 million copies and remains an emblematic tune of the Parisian belle vie.
