This week marks the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center in New York City and The Pentagon building in Washington, D.C. The following is a roundup of some of the area’s most noteworthy events taking place this Sunday, September 11, observing the tragedy and honoring those who lost their lives:
• A Day of Remembrance: The S.B. County Fire Department hosts a memorial ceremony honoring the first responders and the nearly 3,000 civilian lives that were lost on 9/11, as well as members of the U.S. armed forces who have died fighting the terrorists behind the attacks. 10-11 a.m. S.B. Courthouse Sunken Gardens, Anapamu Street, between Santa Barbara and Anacapa streets. Call 681-5500.
• Honoring, Remembering, and Celebrating Life: The life of Chad Keller, a young S.B. native who was killed in the Pentagon crash, will be honored through film stories recorded by his friends and family. 5:30 p.m. Lobero Theater, 33 East Canon Perdido Street. $20-$35. Call 963-0761.
• Requiem of Remembrance: The S.B. Choral Society will perform Mozart’s moving Requiem in observance of the 9/11 attacks. 3 p.m. First Presbyterian Church, 21 East Constance Avenue. Call 965-6577.
