This is in response to the recent story on Dario Pini.
I’d like to share my thoughts on this so-called slumlord.
I’ve been a content and happy renter from this man for several months now, and see nothing of the man described in the article. I have lived, and currently live, in one of his properties in Carpinteria. If it weren’t for his kindness, I can say for a fact that my family would be, in a word, homeless. Dario’s staff have always, and I mean 100 percent of the time, treated us with kindness and respect.
They have always worked with me on rent and never wavered in their treatment of us despite an inability to pay on time. Truly, I’ve no idea who else on earth could be more understanding of the difficulties some of us have, especially in these times and in this economy.
I’ve only met the man once, he was there to check on a repair, and was nothing but kind, considerate, totally professional, and respectful.
Anything I needed, they’ve supplied promptly and courteously. I noticed that in the several months I’ve lived in his rental, every month there is some kind of an improvement being done to the property, whether it’s repainting the entire apartment complex, fixing things regularly, etc. They give advance notice and get the job done, whatever is needed to improve life for people, they do, and do well.
I understand there are those who wish to nail others to the cross. But I wanted to at least share our experiences and remind everyone that, no matter how flat you make a pancake, it still has two sides.
Keep up the good work, Independent, you make life even more enjoyable than it already is in Santa Barbara County, and I look forward to your continued coverage of issues that matter.
