The Santa Barbara Amateur Radio Club (SBARC) founded in 1920 will be operating a radio station the weekend of Reagan’s 100th birthday celebration. SBARC has been given the special commemorative call sign W6R for use the weekend of February 5 through 7 in honor of the President. SBARC will be operating an amateur radiostation contacting other amateur radio operators around the world. The 100 th anniversary of PresidentReagan’s birthday will be celebrated on Sunday, February 6. All of the stations that make contact with the SBARC President Reagan Station will be sent a specialcommemorative card (called a QSL card) indicating the time, date and frequency of the contact with the Radioclub. A Second station, operated by the Ventura Amateur radio Club will be operating the same weekend fromnear the Reagan Museum. Their call sign for the event will be K6R. About SBARCSBARC is a non-profit public benefit corporation organized to promote education for persons interested in telecommunications, to disseminate information about scientific discoveries and progress in the field, and totrain communicators for public service and emergency communications.
