The Santa Barbara Public Library System is offering two free training classes in November for non-profit and individual grant seekers. Both classes will be in the Townley Room of the Central Library, 40 E. Anapamu St.
On Wednesday, November 10 at 11am a workshop for organizations will be offered. Non-profits will learn how to use the Foundation Directory Online to identify grant makers in their area of interest, what funding is available, which grant makers are accepting applications, and how to apply. On Thursday, November 18 at 11am is a class for individuals not affiliated with nonprofit organizations, such as artists and researchers. This one-hour class is for those who are seeking accurate, current information on foundations providing funding in the following areas: educational support, arts and cultural support, research and professional support and general welfare and special needs support.
Participants will learn how to use Foundation Grants to Individuals Online to identify grant makers in their area of interest, what funding is available, which grant makers are accepting applications, and how to apply. The Santa Barbara Central Library is a Cooperating Collection of the Foundation Center. The Foundation Center’s mission is to gather, analyze and disseminate information about foundations to organizations and individuals looking for grants.
As a member of this nationwide network of libraries, community foundations, and other nonprofit organizations, the Library provides visitors with free public access to grantmaker directories, books on fundraising and nonprofit management, plus access to the Foundation Centers electronic databases, The Foundation Directory Online and Foundation Grants to Individuals Online. These databases contain information on over 98,000 grantmakers across the United States, and may be accessed at the Central Library, both on Library computers and on personal laptops using the Library wireless network.
