The Santa Barbara County Farm Bureau’s 501 (c) (3) GAATE Foundation is excited to announce their newly implemented Blue Jacket Bonanza program. The program is made possible through generous donations from bidders at the SBCFB’s yearly fund raiser “Celebrate Harvest.”
Blue Jacket Bonanza is a need based program that was developed to provide area students involved in FFA a chance to own their own blue jacket. To be granted a jacket the students will be required to complete an application process which entails a written essay, personal interview, and community service.
An additional feature of the program will be the “Blue For You Closet.” FFA Alumni are encouraged donate official dress items they no longer are using to the “Blue For You Closet” to help complete a deserving student’s official dress outfit.
FFA helps the next generation rise up to meet tomorrow’s challenges. Its members explore their interests and develop their own unique skills and talents through FFA programs. By helping to prepare the leaders of tomorrow, you’re guaranteeing a brighter future for us all.
SBCFB President Kevin Merrill said, “Agricultural education is important to the future of our industry. Through the FFA program young men and women learn one of the most valuable commodities we produce, leadership. Leadership skills that are necessary to foster future innovations that will help keep California agriculture in the fore front of world food production.”
By making a financial or official dress contribution to the Blue Jacket Bonanza program you will be making a difference in the lives of so many students. For more information call the SBCFB office at 805/688-7479.
