Sure, we live here, so we don’t really need anyone to tell us we should be savoring the Central Coast. But when Sunset Magazine speaks—and the lifestyle-setter of the West has been doing so for 112 years—it can’t hurt to listen. That’s why the mag’s first Savor the Central Coast, to be held September 30-October 3, centered at the scenic Santa Margarita Ranch in S.L.O. County, sounds like such a good time. The numbers alone are impressive: 200-plus wineries, 30-plus chefs, and a 20,000-square-foot pavilion full o’ delicious edu-tainment. The Santa Barbara slant, evidently, will focus on how we were Hollywood before Hollywood, and attendees can be filmed in front of a green screen in a new 2011 Volvo convertible (sponsor alert!) that will be edited onto passing sights of Santa Barbara, Buellton, Santa Maria, and Solvang. In addition to that, there’s a slate of winemaker dinners, demos, Tyler Florence cooking up a storm, and Chris Isaak singing up one. For tickets and more info, see savorcentralcoast.com.
