Vandenberg Air Force Base plans to launch a nuke-capable Minuteman III missile on 9/17 as part of its series of test launches to check the ICMB weapons system’s reliability and accuracy. The launch—headed by Air Force Global Strike Command—is the third of three launches this fiscal year; the other two took place on 6/16 and 6/30, and both were considered successes. Friday’s missile is expected to fly around 5,300 miles to a target 200 miles southwest of Guam.
