Wow, Nick Welsh has outdone himself in his latest, politically directed “Hoist by El Perro’s Petard.” What a marvelously entertaining conjugation of irreverent double entendres, historical mismatches, and mind-bending innuendos. Nick Welsh has obviously been “chewing” on the numerous, wildly improbable, but entirely possible novels by the all-time masters of same, Tim Dorsey (Hammerhead Ranch Motel) and John Burdett (Bangkok 8). Or perhaps the hair of the Fiesta dog has merely served to “fertilize” his comedic creativity?
