Owners of the four-legged variety may not know it, but it is against the law to have an unlicensed dog. That’s why from now until July 15, S.B. County Animal Services is offering free six-month licenses for never-been-licensed pooches whose owners reside in Montecito, Goleta, Summerland, and unincorporated county land, and it is waiving late fees for those who renew their canine’s license. “A license is your pet’s ticket home,” said Jan Glick, director of S.B. County Animal Services, in a press release. A licensing clinic is being held Saturday, July 10, 9-11 a.m., at Manning Park in Montecito. A current rabies certificate is required and, if the license is for an altered dog, written proof that the dog is spayed or neutered is required. Call County Animal Services for more info, 681-5285. (Note: Dog licenses for residents of the cities of S.B. and Carpinteria must contact those jurisdictions’ animal control offices; S.B. is at 963-1513, and Carpinteria is at 684-5405.)
